Correct cleaning method of plate heat exchanger

During the use of the plate heat exchanger, due to improper operation of water treatment equipment and substandard water quality control, unqualified softened water is injected into the heating system, so that the calcium, magnesium, and carbonate in the water decompose into carbonic acid after being heated. Calcium and magnesium hydroxide deposits are deposited on the heating surface of the heat exchanger, forming a hard scale. The choice of cleaning agent is pickling, which includes organic acid and inorganic acid. Organic acids mainly include oxalic acid and formic acid. The main inorganic acids are: hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, etc. According to the analysis of heat exchanger fouling and process, material and scale composition:
1) The heat exchanger has a small circulation area and a complicated internal structure. If the cleaning fluid is precipitated, it is not easy to discharge.
2) The heat exchanger is made of nickel-chin alloy, and hydrochloric acid is used as the cleaning fluid, which is likely to cause strong corrosion to the plates and shorten the service life of the heat exchanger.


Through repeated experiments, it is found that choosing formic acid as the cleaning fluid to clean the plate heat exchanger has the best effect. Adding buffers and surfactants to the formic acid cleaning solution has a better cleaning effect and can reduce the corrosion of the cleaning solution to the plate.The chemical test study on scale samples shows that formic acid can effectively remove scale. Through the acid immersion test, it is found that formic acid can effectively remove the scale attached to the plates of the plate heat exchanger, and at the same time, it has little corrosive effect on the plates.
