Find problems with BPHE leaks

In the process of using the heat exchange equipment, it is inevitable that there will be a failure. If there is a problem, from what aspects should we check the plate heat exchanger?

1. System check
— Check shutdown procedures and evaporation temperature. Is the pressure in the condenser controlled?
The low maximum condensation pressure in winter will force the evaporation temperature to drop.
— Check shutdown and start-up procedures and temperature changes that may occur if thermal shock is checked.
Does the cold fluid suddenly enter the hotter BPHE, or vice versa?
— Check vibration from other equipment.
Are there elbows or bellows that can reduce force or vibration?
— In the case of parallel compressors or BPHE, when a unit suddenly starts or stops, it may cause sudden pressure or temperature fluctuations.
Do all BPHEs have their own pressure controller?
— Are electric valves or solenoid valves applied on the water side?
Installing a solenoid valve after BPHE may cause water hammer.
— Have you applied a valve that can be operated semi-continuously by adjusting the operating time?
This valve may open for 1 second, close for 5 seconds, and turn from closed to open for 5 seconds and close for 1 second. They are the cause of sudden changes in temperature and pressure.

— Does the water contain excessive amounts of chloride ions or other corrosives?

Try to take a water sample.


2. External inspection
— Is there a bulge on the cover plate opposite the water inlet?
— Are there signs of deformation on both sides?
— Is the takeover connection sealed?
— Check the exterior for damage to transportation or installation?
Severe freezing-improper water temperature control, causing the entire product to swell.
Local freezing-improper water temperature control, short-term operation below 0 ℃.
Improper temperature control when welding the pipe-when welding the pipe, there is no proper cooling measure, and the excessive temperature is transferred to the bottom of the pipe or the adjacent plate, causing leakage.
Plate micro-cracks-The plate has non-penetrating cracks when shipped from the factory, and the plate is broken after a period of operation.
Improper design (intermediate partition 095, etc.)-There is no reinforced plate at the intermediate partition on the fluorine side of the dual system, and the plate will cause fatigue damage after a period of operation.
