Common failures and treatment methods of plate heat exchanger

1. Leakage
The main manifestations are leakage (small amount, discontinuous water droplets) and leakage (large amount, continuous water droplets). The main places where leakage occurs are the seal between the plate and the plate, the two sealing leak grooves of the plate, and the inner side of the end plate and the compression plate.
①In the no-pressure state, re-clamp the equipment according to the clamping size provided by the manufacturer. The size should be uniform and the parallelism between the two compression plates should be kept within 2mm.
②Make a mark on the leaking part, then disassemble the heat exchanger and investigate and solve it one by one, and reassemble or replace the gasket and plate.
③Disassemble the open heat exchanger, repair the deformed parts of the plate or replace the plate. When there is no spare part for the plate, the plate at the deformed part can be temporarily removed and then reassembled for use.
2. Liquid string
The main feature is that the medium on the higher pressure side is strung into the medium on the lower pressure side, and abnormal pressure and temperature will appear in the system. If the medium is corrosive, it may also cause corrosion of other equipment in the pipeline. Liquid leakage usually occurs in the diversion area or the secondary sealing area.
①Replace the cracked plate, and use the light transmission method to find the crack of the plate on the spot.
②Adjust the operating parameters to meet the design conditions.
③The clamping size of the heat exchanger should meet the requirements during maintenance and assembly, not as small as possible.
3. Large pressure drop
The pressure drop of the media inlet and outlet exceeds the design requirements, or even many times higher than the design value, which seriously affects the system's requirements for flow and temperature. In the heating system, if the pressure drop on the hot side is too large, the primary side flow will be seriously insufficient, that is, the heat source is insufficient, resulting in the secondary side outlet temperature that cannot meet the requirements.
①Remove the dirt or plate fouling in the flow channel of the heat exchanger. For the newly operating system, clean it once a week according to the actual situation.
②It is better to use soft water after softening treatment for secondary circulating water
③For the central heating system, the method of supplementing water once and twice can be used.
4. The heating temperature cannot meet the requirements
The main feature is that the outlet temperature is low, which fails to meet the design requirements.
①Increase the flow of the heat source or increase the diameter of the heat source medium pipeline.
②Balance the flow of multiple plate heat exchangers operating in parallel.
③Disassemble the plate heat exchanger to clean the surface of the plates.
