How to reduce the resistance of plate heat exchanger

The resistance of heat exchange equipment is a force that we will inevitably produce when the equipment is running. The higher the coefficient of this force, the more difficult it is to run our process, or the higher the wasted energy consumption. There are actually four ways to reduce the resistance of the plate heat exchanger:

1. Equipment selection
The equipment selection we are talking about is not just to choose the type of plate heat exchanger, but to choose its own form. Generally, we will use asymmetric plate heat exchangers to reduce resistance. Although this form of heat exchanger It is also composed of plates, but the characteristics of the cold and hot runners formed inside and the basic plate heat exchanger can change the geometric structure of the plates around, thereby forming a plate heat exchanger with unequal cross-sectional areas.
Asymmetric plate heat exchangers can appropriately reduce our heat transfer coefficient, but can greatly reduce our pressure, reduce the surface area of the plates, and achieve more cost-saving purposes.


2. Component selection

Components must be one of the main factors affecting the equipment process. We often use thermal mixing plates to reduce the resistance of plate heat exchangers. The structural forms of thermal mixing plates and basic plates are similar, but they can accept multiple media to operate at the same time. The adjustment function can intelligently regulate the internal resistance of our equipment.


3. Process combination selection

The current plate heat exchanger is divided into single-process combination and multi-process combination layout. With the continuous development of the process, our equipment cannot act on one medium alone, because the cost is too high, so the multi-process combination layout is adopted. The flow rate inside the equipment is greatly increased, while the resistance of a single pipeline is reduced, which indirectly reduces the operating force inside the equipment.


4. Set up a separate bypass pipeline

If our process volume is relatively large, then we can set up a separate bypass pipeline to reduce the operating flow of our equipment, but this process cannot be installed with a single component of the bypass pipeline, and other supporting equipment such as regulating valves, Switches, etc., so we must make a reasonable selection according to the equipment situation to ensure that the equipment can not only meet the process requirements, but also reduce the internal pressure drop.
